We're Doing Videos - Any Requests?
over 8 years ago – Wed, Sep 16, 2015 at 04:10:21 PM

We're going to be doing some more rules videos, explanations and rambles, and I wanted to know if you had any requests!

Is there any facet of the rules, character creation, the setting, or anything in general that you would like more clarification on? We can provide it! :)

The Forum

The forum is really cool! There are lots of people signing up, questions, discussions and games getting set up. Make sure you sign up and get involved! :) http://immersionrpg.freeforums.net/

I'll be getting a FB group and G+ Community set up shortly too (should be tonight).

EU Friendly
over 8 years ago – Wed, Sep 16, 2015 at 11:41:50 AM

Hi everyone!

Just a quick head's up to everyone - I had a backer contact me today about the project, and mentioned that as he was a European backer, the VAT (Value Added Tax) he would have to pay would be rather expensive. And naturally, added expense is not a good thing.

I thought I should just let you all know that this project is actually EU Friendly (as well as Australia, USA and Canada Friendly). This means that it will be shipped from the Printer to the Distributor. I will then pay the VAT for the whole EU shipment, and then it will be sent out from France to everywhere it needs to go.

So if you live in Europe you won't need to pay any further tax!

Cool, right? :)

If you want to know about the Distributors we're using, their name is Ideaspatcher. They're worth checking out - fantastic company, highly recommended..and very funny with their intro videos!

Check this one out... it makes me laugh over and over! haha.

If you've got any other questions about logistics (or rules, or book stuff, or anything), please feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message!

Oh, one other thing...

Email Fail

That kind of rhymes eh?

With our new website for Immersion RPG now up, we've been having a little teething problem in that emails to [email protected] are no longer coming through to me. Which sucks.

So if you have an email for me, please send it to [email protected]

If you haven't received a response from me yet... this is most likely the reason why!!

A Great Video
over 8 years ago – Wed, Sep 16, 2015 at 11:41:37 AM

Ooh I'm excited about this!! Youtuber Nick-Nack has posted up the scenario we played just the other day... what I have dubbed "The Easy Score!"

It was a huge amount of fun, but even more than that, it is a great way to learn more about the game for new players. None of the players had run the Immersion system before, so as I explain the rules to them, you too will discover anything that you need to know.

Also, you can see all the rolls we make, and we spell out a lot of them, so that they're even clearer. The icing on the cake was that at the end of the vid (some of it is on camera, but the rest was after we stopped videoing), I asked them about their experience with the game, and they all found it was simple, easy to understand, and really fun.

They had had some questions beforehand on how everything would work, whether it would work well - and how did the 2d10s actually roll?! After this, even the newest gamer, who'd only before played D&D 5E, and in his words thought "What?! Why change from the d20? What's wrong with that?", felt the Immersion system was really clear, and fun - and was keen to play more. NICE! :)

I was really pleased with this video, honoured to be a part of it, and truly appreciate Nick-Nack's time and professionalism in bringing it to life, as well as Richard and Tom, the two awesome backers who participated! You guys rock! :)

Check it out!

Oh, and if you want to see how the character creation is done... see below. Again, it's a very nicely edited vid, and it answers so many of the questions that new gamers will ask! Nick-Nack is very incisive in his questioning, gets a full rundown on all the features of the character sheet, and shows you how he made his (super cool and original) character.

Good gaming!

5 Days To Go!!
over 8 years ago – Tue, Sep 15, 2015 at 05:25:54 AM

Ooh, the countdown is really ON! There's a lot happening. We've got 5 days to go, and just under $1500 standing between us and that adventure set in backer created content!

I Played a Game Last Night

I just played a game last night with YouTuber Nick-Nack, as well as Tom and Richard - two backers! It was a lot of fun. Playing three opportunistic individuals out to make an easy score, they headed into the hills following the directions of their guide (Tom), to take them to a house with a whole bunch of excess scrap... except it wasn't quite what they bargained for!

The video will be up pretty soon, so as soon as it is I'll post it up here too - Nick-Nack is very professional in his presentation, which really adds a lot to the game, and is a great lesson for how to play. Universally (see what I did there?), the players had some questions on the rules before we started, and then found after a roll or two that they understood and it was really simple. Which was great! Also, the ranges of experience were quite different, from Richard (started in the 70's) to Tom (started on 5E D&D about a year ago), to Nick-Nack (experience unknown, but certainly fairly broad!).

What a great way to test out the system and setting eh! :)

Playtesting The Future

So this brings me to my next thought for the immediate future - I want to ensure that the rules are as easy to understand as the game is to play, as such, having more playtests going with as many backers as possible would be invaluable. Our system has already been available as an open Beta playtest for over 5 years, which has provided a lot of great feedback, but I think even more refining from you is what will make this game really excel!

As such, please find here a copy of our "Reviewers Rules." These are our full rules, but trimmed to remove all the fantasy and sci fi elements - i.e. the powers have been taken out. These rules do need a bit of polishing! It's really unrefined because I cobbled it together for reviewers to check out, so they could play the games. However, it is all you need to get started! If you have been to our main website (http://immersion-rpg.com/) and subscribed, you would have been sent the full Immersion RPG rulebook, which has all these rules, plus powers, so this will be mostly the same to you (I say mostly, because there are a few refinements in the rules here).

So, if you'd like to start going through them now, please do so, and if you'd like to play a game, please do too! Though I would also advise checking out our rules vids and, in particular, this soon-to-be-released video from last night's game, as that will explain the rules really effectively.

A Rules Variation

One of the things I love to do is vary things up. No one likes exactly the same thing! So while I've found everyone I've played Immersion with has really enjoyed it, and found it quite simply yet tactical and dynamic, I also realise that there are those out there who prefer more rules-light variants! As such, I'm developing just such a variant!

The Immersion RPG Forum!

We now have an Immersion RPG Forum! Please jump on, check it out, and let the conversations begin! This is a great way to catch up with other backers of the project, discuss ideas, give suggestions, put in playtest reports and all sorts of other good stuff :) Also, if you'd like, please feel free to make use of the avatars posted in one of our first Updates.

Cheers everyone, that's it for me just now - please let me know your thoughts in the comments section below :)

And remember - we've got 5 days left! Let's make this count, and turn Infected into an EPIC book! SPREAD THE WORD! :)
